I keep getting the following message everytime I click on a link:
Your system is infected with dangerous virus.
Note: strongly recommend to install antispyware program to clean your system and avoid total crash of your computer!
Click OK to download the antispyware. (Recommended)
|| OK || ||Cancel||
I don't know which spy-ware it is telling me to install, but I'm installing the Yahoo! Anti-Spy. What would you say about that?
I thank you all, in advance, for taking time to answer my question.

I have AVG Free anti Virus. All you need is the anti virus part and it works great… at least so far it has for me.

I use Spybot S&D and Adaware… With AVG anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-rootkit on the side… and my system has been decently clean…
Just for the record, there is no best. All the protection programs have different libraries so thus, different pieces of malicious codes are detected.

don't install anything that pops up and asks you to install as it's most likely a virus or spyware. Install Googles antivirus pack. It's free of charge and highly reputable. http://safe-google.com/pack

This is a devious activity by some website advertisers that try to trick people into installing their fake anti spyware application. In most cases, the fake antispyware program completely screws up your machine then demands a credit card number to "Fix" the problem.
This doesn't mean you have any spyware on your machine- just ignore it.
(Incidentaly, spyware in windows is very common, so I'd recommend running a scan anyway. Give SpyBot a go - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)

This message is caused by spyware: you are already infected.
Get these 3 programs to protect yourself:
http://www.safer-networking.org/ (spybot)
http://www.spywareterminator.com/ (turn off web security guard)
http://www.superantispyware.com/
Update and scan your computer.
If you do not have anti-virus software, try Avira from http://www.free-av.com/
It is better than AVG

STOP RIGHT NOW
This message is a TROJAN
Go to
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
Follow what it tells you Print it and follow it to the letter.
If not You WILL have to pay for trojan removal (and you may still have to) or reformat you computer. I managed to back up the My documents which have not been infected, only after running the XP clean.
Oh and keep the Super anti spyware program, when you download it. Join this site its free and rather helpful

as for what your pc has just displayed: NEVER INSTALL IT! it is a fake one and it is in fact a spyware trying to infect your pc. Install only the trusted and proven ones not the ones that displays fake alerts and enticing you to install their fake software programs.
