what is the best internet security software that wont use much resources and slow my computer’s performance?

November 7th, 2008 · 5 Comments

bought a new laptop with norton internet security. however i switched to mcafee and although the features are good, but it made my system so slow that i am at the point of frustration.i had really loved zone alam but since it’s not compatible with vista 64 bit i cant use it. i am currently thinking of bit defender but i have been told it slows a computer’s performance as well. does anyone know a good internet security software that wont use up so much resources? thanks for the responses in advance

Are you looking for an internet security program you have to purchase or arel you looking for free protection.
When you are looking for a very good internet security program, that does not slow down your computer, I would recommend Kaspersky Internet Security. I am using it since a couple of months.

Before that I had Zone Alarm Security Suite. You say that it does not work with 64 bit.
When you check this site, it says different I think

When you are looking for free protection you could try this

Because free programs are never completely as secure as the programs you are paying for I always recommend to install a combination of programs.

      Comodo Internet Security ( free)
      http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
      antivirus and firewall

Then I would install as extra protection, Threatfire
Threatfire is an anti virus, that can be installed next to any other anti virus program on the same computer
      http://www.threatfire.com/

There is a lot of mal ware you have to protect your pc against.
This is a very good program, that completely runs in the background
      http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.html

You will also need anti spyware protection
Good free anti spyware programs are

      http://www.spywareterminator.com/
      It has Realtime Shield
      http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html
These 2 you can both download. It is good to have more than one anti spyware programs.

Installing these programs, will not use any extra RAM or CPU usage.

Your computer will be very well protected and it does cost you nothing

AVG Internet Security!!! its really good. Its 50 ‘ish dollars and fully worth it. It comes with: Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Anti-spam, Anti-Root kit, Firewall, Email Scanner, Link Scanner, Web Shield, and Resident shield…So i think it is pretty good.
      hope this helps you:)
