My aunt sent me some pictures in an email and later on found that she had a virus. Now my defender pro 5 in 1 internet security is starting to act weird. so i just need a temporary download of a good anti-virus software. but i need it to do it’s work. and after reading these reviews about Defender Pro
http://www.itsecurity.com/expert/20070509/defender-pro-from-hell/
i don’t think i want to keep it. can someone point me in the right direction, i just need a free trial download until i can buy a complete program (don’t know what to get yet, can you help me there also?) I’ve heard about AVG, Panda, Avast, and a few others. can someone tell me which anti-virus program will do a good job in it’s work, and where to download it’s trail?
I'm running the Yahoo! anti-spy right now to see if i can track down the virus and get rid of it, thanks for the tech-support everyone. I'll have a look and compare the good ones.

Kaspersky is the best all-round anti-virus program. NOD32 is just as good if not better, it runs faster and has less software conflicts but may be more difficult to use.
Recent tests prove Kaspersky and NOD32 are better than the best sellers Norton and McAfee (av-comparatives.org). Norton is notoriously bloated and takes forever to perform full systems scans.
Trend Micro Antivirus is a viable alternative if you’re having a lot of trouble with software conflicts. Trend Micro rounds out the top three. BitDefender is very good as well, but gives a high number of false alarms.
The most popular free anti-virus programs (AVG and Avast) have poor detection rates (82.82%, 87.46% respectively). If you want a free anti-virus Avira has higher detection rates than AVG or Avast! (94.26%).

Kaspersky ALL THE WAY!!!! even though its expensive, its very worth it. im am SO glad that i got my hands on it and for one, its probably the greatest AV ive ever used. ive used Norton and Trend Micro in past and they were annoying and bloated. but kaspersky is amazing. scanning speeds are pretty fast depending if you want a light scan or heavy scan and i game while my computer scans ONLINE with barely a change. Also, the internet security is the version i have. the firewall is really good and 2009 added something special. the application filtering already has pre defined programs that when it detects you have it, its automatically on the safe list (woohoo) basically its very very good and you cant ever go wrong with russian made products especially anti virus because russians are the craziest hackers in the world!

Yahoo AS! only provides detection and protection against spyware. If you need to detect and clean a virus, you’ll need a dedicated Anti-Virus program.
My vote would be for Nod32. It has one of the best on-demand detection rates while also having the best proactive (new “wild” viruses) detection compared to the other major software available. Proactive defense are always ignored, but imo, this is a critical feature for all-around anti-virus protection. AV companies are always playing “catch-up” with viruses. New viruses are created every day, but AV software can only detect them once they analyze a sample and add it to their virus definitions.
Nod32 is also very “memory friendly” compared to Norton & Mcafee, so it wont slow down your computer. It’s geared more towards “computer savy” users, but their new interface is much more “average user friendly”.
