What is the FASTEST antivirus?

May 31st, 2008 · 3 Comments

I don't really care about resident shields, email scanners, firewalls and other useless stuff.

I know that the websites im going on are virus-free.
Im only downloading files from the reliables sources.

im not sure if I even need an antivirus, but just to be sure i want to install some kind of antivirus.

I got an idea that I should download antivirus from 1-2 years ago because back then antivirus used much less memory. As long as that antivirus software has updated virus-definitions it should be fine, right?

so what is the fastest antivirus

google pack is quick and easy. I wouldn't download the 12 year old antivirus as it won't protect you from anything. Google pack is also free, http://safe-google.com/pack

AVG is very lightweight. It doesn't take up too much resources. The virus signature database is comparatively small. avast! has better detection rates, but has a larger memory footprint. If you trust the websites you download from, AVG is good enough.

      AVG: http://free.grisoft.com
      or
      (slower) avast! : http://www.avast.com

      Good luck!
