What is ~util32.dll and what is it doing on my computer?

July 3rd, 2009 · 3 Comments

What is ~util32.dll and what is it doing on my computer? My daughter gave me a laptop for my birthday last March and now it’s running slow as everything… I’m getting several error messages and I got a book about Windows and file structure and I’m going through my process files. Well there are a lot.

I honestly don’t know if this is something I can delete or not. If anybody can help me out then I probably have a few more questions for you.

Dll files are a part of vast library that contains code and data that is shared by many programs. This helps to produce speed and memory efficiency in your operating system by reusing the same code or file to run many functions by various programs. An error occurs when program aren’t allowed to access this code.

Here is an easy to follow tutorial:

I’m not sure about ~util32.dll but as a PC technician I can tell you that you don’t just want to go around deleting files you don’t understand! Please don’t take this the wrong way–even *I* don’t go around deleting stuff–and I do this for a living!

If you’ll invest in some registry software, you can probably get your problem taken care of. This is what I use to keep my computer from getting bogged down and slow.

Computers usually get slow from a dirty registry and on occasion can even crash. You can go through the registry yourself if you know what you’re doing but even then…

      1) you may end up deleting the wrong thing by accident, causing the computer to shut down

      2) it takes way too @#$%@#$% long.

I use the RegZooka registry cleaner on my computer and recommend you get a registry cleaner as well. They offer a free scan so you can see what’s going on with your computer; I highly recommend it: http://regzooka.com.
