What processes does McAfee run and how can I make them stop?

October 12th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I just want to uninstall McAfee completely, because I have other ways of protecting my computer. I used Add/Remove programs to uninstall most of it, but it won’t remove the security center. No matter what I do, I can’t get the security center to stop running.

Every time I end the processes associated with McAfee, they start back up on their own.

The processes running on my computer are: http://www.geocities.com/mjbohartotoole/processes.JPG

Which ones do I need to end to make McAfee stop starting up?

      Hi There,

The best way to remove McAfee from your computer is to download and run their uninstall tool. Link below.

      http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/McAfee-Consumer-Product-Removal-Tool.shtml

Add/Remove programs will not do the job because McAfee inserts itself in many places in the registry. I spent 3-4 months searching the registry for "McAfee" and removing various registry keys.

That is exactly the reason I do not like McAfee products. They act like a virus since they are hard to remove.

      Hope this helps,
      Al

I strongly suggest you go to McAfees OWN website here:

      http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

      and follow their instructions.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!
