Today I've bought new laptop (finally) with Vista home basic preinstalled and I've already installed SP1
My questions
1. So what shall I turn on & off for better performance?
2. AFAIK I can't use Aero Glass theme - if any one have some other info feel free to share, oh and other than TrueTransparency ^-^
3. Can I install other themes? (I mean what if I install transparent theme found on dA? O_o) Maybe some Gnome, other OS GUI alike?
4. Anything other I should know?
Oh and I can't install openSUSE T_T - my OS use drive as recovery partition so I can't do any partitioning TOT except I wish to lose my only system copy… (I wonder who came up with this solution…)
As long as my (new) notebook doesn't overheat like my old one…I can use even Vista xD rotfl Anyway, I forgot to ask - can I change colour of taskbar? I know I can do so with window borders while using aero (basic not glass)

Vista gets sluggish very easily so make sure you
empty temp files daily.

well, you have home basic, is why you can't use aero, and you have to have a powerful-enough graphics card.
turn off Defender and UAC's (User Access Controls) and they'll make you life so much easier.
then go to http://www.pcdecrapifier.com and download the pc decrapifier and run it, gets rid of all the junk thats preloaded on the computer, leaving you with just what you want to keep and thats it.

Hi, for better performance u can't really do much maybe except turn off user account control but thats a security risk.
For themes visit deviantart.com, there r thousands of Vista themes there and they r all awesome
Other OS themes, I don't think so unless they have been ported over.
Yeah u should know that vista requires the perfect drivers and the perfect software, if either of these r slightly un compatible then the system may crash.
Yeah……lol, but u can shrink the partition vista is installed on if u like
