What should I do if I am trying to restore my laptop but keep getting the same "fatal error" message?

June 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments

This is what the message says:

An error has occurred that prevents Setup from continuing. Windows is unable to start because the registry could not be updated. To address this problem, please contact your computer manufacturer. Windows must now Shut Down. Press OK to view the Setup log file.

This is the message that appears when the windows xp screen shows up.

When you turn on the computer, hit F8. It will give you several options. Go with the option of Safemode, or Safemode with networking, allows you to use internet. From their, go to system restore. It will run a wizard that will help you along the way to restoring your computer. It might take a little while but should work.
