I run my anti-spyware and antivirus programs at least once a week, but I hadn't run them in a few days. I applied for a credit card online tonight and then a little while later decided to run my spyware and virus sweeps while I went and did something else. I came back to the computer and saw that the program found 5 spyware items. I deleted them all, but now I'm very concerned because I entered all of my personal information into a website in order to apply for the credit card. What should I do? The anti-spyware/ antivirus program will usually stop me if I'm going to a website known to be harmful and I haven't downloaded anything. The website where I applied is very well-known and said "Verisign secured" on every page of the application. Are there any steps I can take to make sure my information wasn't stolen?
By the way, I've had my computer for almost 2 years and I rarely ever find anything when I run those sweeps, let alone 5 things at once!
I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance because the spyware was still there when I entered all of my personal info.

Don't worry, If you have successfully deleted all of your spywares then they wont do harm anymore

You should be ok, 5 traces of spyware is not a real signifigant issue and in order to crack encrypted websites.. lets just say its not easy. I would suggest AVG over anything else. Also go to http://www.ryelexx.com the techs answer emails about problems plus theres alot of good info

If it was spy ware then theres not much to worry about. most of that is just programs that track what websites you go to and try and advertise randomly to you through your internet browser or the like. I wouldn't worry to much about it unless what you deleted was a key logger or a Trojan. If unsure of what you deleted you can always go back and check the log of whatever program you are using.
Also, the VeriSign secured message pretty much means that, that website is secure. your information is sent over encrypted network's and databases. Just keep an eye on your credit cards balance, and your bank accounts. and whenever you apply for say a car loan see if you can get a copy of your credit report they print up
i dont mean that to make you paranoid, thats good advice period
