What wrong with my AVG Free 8.0 update manager?
I keep getting a message that my anti-virus and anti-spyware databases are outdated, but when I restart my computer as prompted, the databases are still outdated. How many times am I supposed to restart my computer to update the databases? I have already restarted five times.

I have been one of the persons, answering questions here at Yahoo Answers and have always recommended certain programs I like my self
AVG, Avast were 2 of those programs, Anitvir I have never used, so can not say anything about that one.
However, since avg8 free is out, I see here a lot of askers with problems like you have with avg8. I stopped recommending avg and advise to install Avast Free.

the reason is your antivirus did not get installed properly, it was interrupted some how, please uninstall and re install and update the engine ASAP

It usually happens, when you update your AVG anti virus definitions database,, after a long gap of period.
As updates go on changing on daily basis, due to addition of new type of viruses discovered,, it is recommended to get your anti virus definitions , updated on regular basis.
This problem can happen with any other anti virus programmes also, due to reasons cited above.
For now, UN-install AVG 8, & re-instal latest, updated one.
Hope i am not wrong.
