My computer got infected about three days ago and HP had to send me a system recovery disk and I hadd to spend hours and hours fixing my computer. The virus was really funny because though the programs were running fine, Norton 360 wouldn't run (uh oh) so it couldn't delete the virus and all of a sudden the icons would disappear for no reason, as well as the start menu bar on the bottom. I have a windows vista computer so only the windows sidebar was left on my desktop. System restore couldn't fix it.
So help me!!! What's a good anti virus or anti spyware program???

I personally use a combination of Avast and SuperAntiSpyware
SuperAntiSpyware is amazing for removing nasty stuff.
AVG antivirus is also a good option.

definately avast it never lets u down i once tried to download this game and before i could it told me it had a virus. it's perfect it even has a memory check so it's memory doesnt get lazy!!!!!

hi, the best security system is KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY SYSTEM ,dont let the funny name put you off,this is the BEST i have been using it for some time, our local pc magazines have also voted it the best,cost is about $70 australian–trust me–cheers.

i had same problem with my computer last year…. due to virus
what i did was… i first uninstalled the existing one 'en restarted the computer 'en downloaded the free version..of nod32 antivirus…. then scanned the whole system……….
it traced lotts of viruses…………….
so ithink if it were a virus, nod 32 should work…… u can install a free copy of it from eset.com… cheers!

hi let me tell u norton cant be unistalled from the computer plus it does not stop all viruses. what am i saying it doesnt stop any at all. only download spybot search and destroy i have this. and download avast. these two are good together any other then they both see eachother as a virus and corrupt ur computer i only have avast n spybot. they both update them selves run a scan with avast n it finds all viruses. as avg didnt find these.

Go to Trend Micro website and run Housecall, its free and it will scan and fix (or delete) anything that dont belong there. Download Spybot Search and Destroy, also free.I have more, but I will wait and see how this goes for you. Good luck !
