What’s going on with my Internet Explorer, Kaspersky and Google Earth?

Well i have a wireless connection coming from a router at home, I'm running Kaspersky BitDefender Total Security 2008 and since a while back i have not been able to update it. In addition to this I can use the internet through Firefox but Not Internet explorer.. So far as i can see there is nothing hampering it in the way of a firewall (has the same problem even if i turn all firewalls off), Google Earth won't connect.. and i also tried to change some setting that Kaspersky told me to (IO Timeout), which there was something to fix but still did not change anything.. so i am lost for ideas, someone help please..
