I tried spyware doctor on pctools.com but after it took 4ever to scan my computer and find infections, it required that i pay to remove them.

You should not have 2 anti virus programs running at the same time. They interfere with each other and give false positives.

Try spybot search and destroy. Antivirus wont conflict with antispyware so you can download it. http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html

Spybot's good and free but spyware doctor is the best I know of, but it's not free.
As for Mcafee - that's why everythings slow, it's good security, but probably too good for your needs.
It's like guarding your piggy bank with a challenger tank and a minefield.
And all that security just kills performance (lots of checks to do).
Try Avast! it's free, it's easy to use and it does the job. Then put spybot on it and run it one a week or so.
Oh and make sure you uninstall mcafee BEFORE you install Avast! or you'll welcome yourself to a whole new world of pain.
