after recently having to reformat my computer because norton let LOADS of spyware through, i was wondering if anyone knows a better free alternative to use? we are running xp home adition.
i am still baffeled why this happened, as norton has usualy been good for me for catching viruses, but all of a sudden it let all this spyware through and there was nothing i could do. it was all up to date aswell. was free with BT, so hadnt run out or anything. but after this i do not trust it so an alternative to protect me from spyware adware viruses and a firewall would be great and i will remove my norton.
please could i have your opinions please?

AVG is brilliant.
Also I use Norton Antivirus, but it came free with my laptop.
I recommend AVG. It does cost about £50, but, it does daily virus scans, internet scans, everything- it's fab.

Go to http://www.filehippo.com I use AVG Free and Spybot S&D. I started using them for the same reason your having problems. I've been using these for several years now with no problems.

and the best spyware is CA Anti-Spy which u can get it with yahoo toolbar
