It all does protect us from virus, of course.
But
What does AVG have that Avira doesn’t?
What does AVG have that Avast doesn’t have?
What does Avira have that AVG doesn’t?
What does Avira have that Avast doesn’t?
What does Avast have that AVG doesn’t?
What does Avast have that Avira doesn’t?
^_^ Thanks in advance

I've copy & pasted this from AVG own web site:
AVG Free does not contain the new Safe Downloads & Instant Messaging protection (Web Shield technology) so it does not screen your downloads and communication for viruses and spyware.
http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
What is the point of a AV if it does not screen your downloads and communication for viruses and spyware this is the same as saying it does not guard, no point in running a AV that does not guard.
Free Avira has a higher detection rate (94%), than Avast, or AVG (82%), free Avira does not scan e mails, Free Avast does lots more than Avira, Avast detection rate 86% - free Avast is said to be the best free all round AV at present.

The only one I haven’t tried is the Avira.
The difference with Avg are huge compared to Avast
Avg 8.0 has a quick scan of your search engines list of websites and give a quick detail of if the website is know or has what is known as a highway drop of a virus. It takes more of the sytem to run and slows down your internet as it’s doing it. If your not someone who like the system to be a bit slower it’s not a good idea to take the Avg. It pretty much all automatied and you can install it and pretty much forget anything about it.
With Anti-virus although you may think there all pretty much the same not all of them has the code to fix the same Virus.
Anti-Virus companies pay the creator of the virus for the fix or try and break down the virus themself to find out what it does and fix it.
The fact is with any anti-virus many of them have a completely different way of fixing the same problem.

http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/676605-avg-vs-avira.html
(free basic)AVG is more populer than any other free antivirus
however AVG full version is free on a file sharing website link attached below

Personally, I don't think it really matters If you're clever, you could get away with running all three and get the best of everything.
I have an "Anti-virus Cocktail" on my Windows partition with Windows Defender, ClamAV, Ad-Aware, and Spybot: Search and Destroy. Gets rid of most everything.
I've heard especially good things about NOD32 and eEye's Blink. The others are just a wee bit overweight for me.

I have researched enough on AntiViruses to call mysself an expert and when it comes down to “The Best AntiVirus”, that would be AVIRA AntiVir which has also been the best Anti-Virus of the year 2008. Period
That DOES NOT mean that the other Anti-Viruses i.e. AVG and Avast! aren’t good, they might be behind by only a small margin, AVG or AVIRA is what I would go with. For more information visit http://www.av-comparatives.org.
As for the “What does–” questions, here are the answers:
1) AVIRA Free: DOES NOT have an anti-spyware, however its heuristics are far superior to that of AVG or Avast!.
2) AVG and Avast! Free editions, both have Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware, however since AVG uses less resources where as Avast! is real system hog, I would recommend AVG as the best freebie antivirus.
In addition to this, Avira AntiVir Premium Security suite is the best possible Anti-Malware software one could possibly have at the moment, other excellent (paid) AntiVirus include: Kaspersky, Bitdefender, F-Secure, ESET NOD32, Norton 360 (Not the previous versions), eScan, AVK(AntiVirus Kit), Trustport etc.
