When I download a file, Norton Virus Scan checks it. The download is “CLEAN” but nothing downloads.I use McAfe?

When I get an email, and there is an attachment, I double click it, and Norton Virus Scan checks it. They all have been clean. The download dialog box pops up, it passes the mail but nothing else happens, (” No time left, amount of KBES left, ETC..) I use McAfee Virus Scan 10. Do I have to use Norton ( to which I don’t have) or how do I set McAfee to check it or can’t I set McAfee to check it? And if I do set McAfee, what would I type in the box, to check it?

If AVG checks a site, does that mean all downloads aren’t viruses?
