I caught a rogue virus called antivirus XP 2008 two weeks ago and is still trying to fight it. When I searched around for ways to rescue my PC, all sources recommended that I download the Superantispyware.com software.
Well I did, and I tried scanning the virus. It’s making it so hard to scan–the clock keeps running but the scanner would get caught at a file. Sometimes I would end the scan because I would leave the room and the PC would want to start over due to the screen saver problem the virus adds.
Anyone, Please help!

In order to remove antivirus XP 2008.just follow the instruction below.Don't use super anti-spyware software.I have personally used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to remove antivirus XP 2008
Automated Removal Instructions for AntiVirus XP 2008 using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:
1) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, or MBAM, from the following location and save it to your desktop:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Download Link:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe
2)Once downloaded, close all programs and Windows on your computer, including this one.
3) Double-click on the icon on your desktop named Download_mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer.
4) When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware checked. Then click on the Finish button.
5)MBAM will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. As MBAM will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main program
6) On the Scanner tab, make sure the the Perform quick scan option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer for AntiVirus XP 2008 related files.
7) MBAM will now start scanning your computer for malware
8)When the scan is finished a message box will appear:
the scan completed successfully.
9)u will now be back at the main Scanner screen. At this point you should click on the Show Results button.
10) A screen displaying all the malware that the program found
11)You should now click on the Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine.
12)When MBAM has finished removing the malware, it will open the scan log and display it in Notepad. Review the log as desired, and then close the Notepad window.
13You can now exit the MBAM program.
note: uninstall super anti spyware software before installing MBAM

You should download all three of these programs as they are free and pack a powerful punch to get rid of any virus.
Malwarebytes:
http://www.download.com/3001-8022_4-10878968.html?spi=8aeafb99646d8807e61e8129c99d0382.
TrojanRemover

SmitFraudFix (optional, but run it just in case)

Great, install these and run in SAFE MODE! I can’t stress that enough. I f you do not, the virus will block your attempt to remove it. Be sure to run all of these at the same time and don’t restart until all three are done. Hope this helps! It worked for m, and i had over 200 different malwares.

The family of XP Antivirus includes the nastiest parasites which have the ability to mutate, thus leaving many antivirus programs helpless. XP antivirus generates random filenames to stop security software from detecting the malware.
That’s why you may experience the problems with SAS detecting the trouble. Also, fighting XP antivirus is best done in Safe Mode.
I’ve helped many people to get rid of this type of malware - see my huge feedback. You can contact me via XP antivirus hubpage, and think we’ll sort that out.

I have use Superantispyware free edition. It is a cripple ware,
meaning many features are disable unless you pay.
I scan my PC with it and it can only come up with 3 harmless cookies,
which I can easily delete using internet explorer delete cookie button.
To remove viruses.
Go to another PC and download Clamwin portable anti-virus program.
