If you cannot restart, you need to reinstall OS. I get that error when I try to install certain games. Sometimes it will fix itself when you restart and choose 'start with last known configuration'. If not u will need the OS disk.

restart PC and hit F8 as it boots up. Then select SAFE MODE.
Once there, do a Restore to a previous date when things worked o.k.
I had the same problem. I know my hard drive has a glitch in it but for now I can't afford a new PC or laptop.
I use the free AVG software for virus protection and a good Registry Cleaner to help me put off the inevitable……..buying another PC or hard drive.

What the 'blue screen' was, is what's known as a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). What it does is, when something goes wrong with your computer, it shuts it down to stop any further damage. It will do it for both software and hardware, and the way to find out what it is, to copy the first set of numbers and look in a search engine for STOP error 0×000000f7.
This was one of the links that came up when I searched.

Have you had a virus or malware problem lately? Most likely, that's the cause.I'm afraid reinstalling windows is your only option if you can't get into safe mode.

Oh dear. Microsoft's BSOD "Blue Screen of Death". It can be caused by different things including a recently installed program. The hard disk is probably still OK but it needs a re-installation of Windows which will probably wipe all your programs and data.
