Is it true that you can't install two antivirus software while the other one is still installed in the computer. Is this also true with Firewall?

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS with regards to the AV. Always delete first before installing second. If you know how, cull Program Files and Registry of old stuff too.
Windows XP and Vista may only run one firewall at a time but having multiple firewalls will probably cause your computer to really slow down and may cause crashes due to conflicts between the firewalls.

You can have 2 antivirus programs running at the same time. They will, however, probably interfere with each other and will certainly cause your computer to run slower. I don't believe windoze will allow you to have 2 firewalls running at the same time.
There are however, different types of firewalls that can run together - a board level firewall (watches after the hardware components on your computer) and a general firewall that is reponsible for keeping the bad guys out of the system.
Good luck!

Use only one.
This is what a Microsoft MVP has to say about the subject. You may also want to consider reading her entire web-page on "How to prevent Malware". It is one of the best that I have seen.

"Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously! The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time. Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown."
Good luck.

u don't have to actually delete one of them but u do have to disable it
start>run>services.msc
find entrit(ies) for what u want to disable
rt click on it slect startup type and change to disable or manual(if u want to use it as an on demand scanner)
apply ok
this way u can try out a different product w/out having to uninstall the one u already have
but u definitely shouldn't have 2 running at same time
in vista to get to services u have to dtart>search>type in services.msc

You can install two anti virus however you can only run one in real time. You cannot run both in real time as they would conflict each other. But it is better to have just one antivirus though.
