my computer has gotten a virus and i need to know where i can download a anti-virus program like nortn or spyware doctor for free rather then going to best buy and buying it for 60 bucks can anyone help me please

Spybot S&D is good for spyware removal (and some viruses) also you can use an online scanner, i reccomend housecall at trendmicro.com

McAfee has a free 30 day trial. I would suggest using McAfee over other software like AVG cause McAfee is the top rated anti-virus software.

Of course you can get a free AV. Just use a search engine - like Yahoo or Google - to find one.
PS. McAfee is awful.

I don't believe you can get Norton free. Besides, it's junk anyway. Go with AVG just like the other person suggested. It is free and it works well. I've been using it myself for quite a while. You may also want to consider using a firewall and getting spyware software. Theyn are all free and free of adware.

you can download norton antivirus in the web site http://www.symantec.com
but you will get only get a trial version for free.when you update it they will ask for buying the product.but if you want the full version without download you will get it.but you should mark my answer as the best.here is how.take you computer's motherboard cd.in that disc surely antivirus program will be there.most probably it will be norton.anyway it will be a good antivirus.after install pleaseupdate the anivirus and then sca n your computer.update your computer every week.after scanning your computer's speed will be increased

Once you run the anti-virus and get a name for it, if it doesn't come out, copy it's name and google it. You should get good information. Before you do anything, back up all your important data. If you want to try one after another doesn't work, remove the earlier program first. Sometimes the anti-virus gets stuck and it maybe best to put your computer into to the safe mode than from there try to run the anti virus.

i'll recommend mCafee or kaspersky,,,
dont use avg and norton they both suck when it comes to new virus,,,
