Where do spyware and viruses usually install themselves?

Which folder does most malware go to system32 or my documents or some other folder? Another way to ask it would be which folders do anti-virus and anti-spyware programs scan when they do there quick, smart, or intelli-scans.

      Although i would say system 32/64 folder, there really isn't much of a usual place. It's all as to what the virus is trying to accomplish, and that determines where you will find it. Same can't be said for spyware though…

      Somewhere deep in your computer's operating system directory where you won't find it by accident (system 32).
