Have you tried running a chkdsk? (Start->Run->type cmd (enter), then chkdsk /r c:, hit enter, N, then Y, reboot)
Are you running an older Norton AV version? If so, upgrade, or change to AVG Free. You can try right click the Norton icon in the system tray and disable it during the install…just remember to re-enable it…old AV is better than no AV. ;>
Do you have an MS Intellimouse? If so, ctrl-alt-del, task manager, Proccesses tab, look for Point32.exe, highlight it, and end task.

Number one reaon for error 105 is a full hard drive.
Have you checked free space? If it's low, time to clean up your hard drive.
In XP (maybe vista?) Start menu-> Accessories-> System Tools ->Disk Cleanup
Let it run, then try installing something. If it works, you'll want to clean 'your stuff' off your hard drive, maybe back it up onto cd/dvd or USB stick.
If it doesn't work, try the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.

There is a download link if you scroll down a bit.
If it still doesn't work, then we need to know more information;
How much disk space do you have free?
What is the exact error message (especially if it refers to a file or directory, even more if it 'could not be created'.)
