      I believe Avast has a higher rate of catching viruses based on reviews.

      I have used Avast to remove a virus that McAfee was unable to detect. They are a good solution for the price but Trend Micro is a better overall solution. Looks like Norton has some issues related to Windows XP SP3 so steer clear until Microsoft and Norton battle this one out. If you need the best protection then ESET has the competition beat hands down - they detect more virus' than any other solution on the market.

      AVG not the free version but the paid versoin with full protection it slows your pc down least of all out of all the AV programs and is an excellent product.

      Actually a FREE "Anti-Vir" is a FRAUD….

      If you want it you will end up getting Lots of Virus…

      It won't protect your PC even 50% of what you are you expecting from an "Anti-Vir" tho!!!

      If you have Budget to Buy the Licensed one that could give a 100% protection …TRY this Site[www.av-comparative.org]

      From there you will find what kind of "Anti-Vir" that is suited for you…

      As of now [AVIRA/ Anti-Vir PE Prenium] is #1…

      2nd [Anti - Virus Kit {AVK} G-data Security]

      3rd [KASPERSKY {Anti-Vir 7.0}

      4th [ESET /NOD 32{Anti_vir}
      and [NORTON {Anti -Vir}version 2008]

      NOTE::Check the Website I give for more INFO about the Latest and Effective [Anti-Virus] for 2008…

      Hope I give you a little INFO of what to have for your Protection…

      I see the AVG fanboys and cheerleaders are out in full force again here on Yahoo Answers!

      I agree…AVG Anti-Virus is pure crap!

      While Avast is a very good free program, it is basically just an anti-virus only (with some anti-spyware capabilities).

      Your Trend is a complete internet security suite including a Firewall and much more:

      There really is no comparison…your version of Trend Micro offers a lot more.
