Which antivirus is better?

July 11th, 2008 · 14 Comments

I currently use Norton Internet Security 2007………..although its security is impeccable…….it is a bit slow………i have used many antivirus apps like
AVG-overlooks most of the viruses
Macafee-Good protection but removes certain system files due to which the explorer wont open my c drive on double clik

Till date NORTON has neva disappointed me……but i wud still like to use a faster application

Which one is better?Why?
1. NOD 32
2. Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite
3. Avast Home Edition
4. Kaspersky
5. Norton

Which antivirus do you currently use?

Dont suggest AVG……I have neva used an antivirus worse than AVG.

Try using the free one from PCTools coupled with Threatfire - also from PCTools.

Im using AVG simply because Avast refuses to work on my PC. Everyone else I know uses Avast. I would highly reccommend Avast. It is by far the best free antivirus out there. It finds everything, doesn't delete unless it should delete it, looks kind of cool, and is extremely small (uses less resources therefore faster).

Kaspersky or McAfee - both are fast and good

I use AVG and have never had a problem. Their shareware is absolutely fantastic (not the free version)

If I had to choose on your list, I'd pick Avast.

Norton shouldn't even be on your list… unless you list the rest of the available anti-virus products available ahead of it…

Nod32 is by far my favorite, it's small, FAST, reliable, no conflicts, good, frequent and speedy pattern updates. It also has industry leading detection rates, even for new and unknown viruses and threats, AND it also does spyware.

I work with hundreds of computers that are running NOD32, and in a given year, there might be 2 or 3 that get any kind of infection, and of those, ALL are cases where the user followed a link from some spam and went to a web site and installed some "cute cursor" or some-such adware. Have not had ANY true virus infections get through.

I use McAfee, it makes the system slow when it scans but new version scan with minimal system resources(i guess its because i have only 512 MB ram) but McAfee has only disappoined once when it couldnt remove Vundo,

Kaspersky and Avira has Highest detection rates
