6. Panda
7. NOD32
8. Avast
9. Zone Alarm
10. Bit Defender
The antivirus should have a good firewall also.
It should not slow down the computer.
Please give some reason also.
If u feel there is some other better antivirus, then please tell me its name.

Kaspersky internet security..
Why?
Doesn't eat up system resources..
Easy understandable interface
Firewall, mail, file and parental controls available…
Interactive mode to customise according to usage..
updates frequently
and many more.. I have been using it for more than two years now and no other AV have impressed as much as Kaspersky has does.

I have used both Avast and AVG. I find them both to be excellent. I had to go to AVG, because my XP System died and now on my back up Win 98. Avast doesn't work on it, but AVG does and works great.
Have used Norton in the past and have gotten sooooo many viruses. Most seem to take Norton out first. The free ones work great, or have for me so far.

McAfee…
Simple to use. Very intuitive. Easy to understand U.I.
Doesn't become corupted like Norton AV.

Comodo Antivirus and Firewall are brilliant at detecting almost any virus. You can also download a free firewall. This is easily configirable and notifies you when any program attempts to access the internet. Then it allows you to send a file to comodos servers to check if it is a virus or it alows you to set it so it can always pass through or not pass through.
Great package and best of all it is free.

**Sigh** this question is asked EVERYDAY, But come on, do any of you have any proof? Yeah oh it blocked a trojan, SO WHAT! There is no "best" they all do the same thing? Block Viruses and stuff? I recomend BitDefender total security 2008, becuase of the Firewall and Low maitenice programe.

You *won't* get the best of both worlds if you insist on a combination.
Kaspersky's and NOD32's antivirus are probably #1 and #2 in the world, in no particular order (they're both so good that it really comes down to personal preference), but the firewall in their "security suites" doesn't compare to the Comodo Firewall Pro (see source).
Don't even consider Quick Heal. It's a paid program, and even the free version of AVG is *probably* better; the free versions of Avast and Avira definitely are.
I personally use and recommend the free Avast Home Edition v4.8. The free Avira has slightly better detection rates, but with that comes a slightly higher false positive rate also. Avast scans your email and can do a boot-time scan which Avira can do neither.
I have no *personal* experience with the others, so I'll defer comment on them

Norton, if you're willing to spend some money. That's the only antivirus I like, I have tried Bit Defender and McAfee but they won't beat Norton. And it has a good firewall, too.
If you like freeware, I'd say Avast and Aviva. I have not tried them yet, but I have read an article, and it says they're the best antivirus for this year.
Just read this article, and decide for your self: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/82713

if u want to pay then pay for the best
Kaspersky internet security
Else if u want it for free then here is the best free security suit u can make (I feel its better than even paid security suit)
1) antivirus (antivir from avira)
2) firewall (comodo free firewall from comodo- even better than zone alarm paid version)
3) anti-spyware
a) windows defender from microsoft Or
b) spyware terminator Or
c) superantispyware (On-demand scan only-Not real time)
theres lot u can do for security rather than relying on three popular words (antivirus, antispyware and firewall)
but u people always go for popular princple of security.
anyway
good luck buddy

If you want the best antivirus (paid versions) based on detection then here are the top five:
1. G-data antiviruskit (uses two engine so there is no doubt it is the best but very heavy on resources)
2. Avira Antivir Premium (light on resources and a slight better detection rate than kaspersky difference of +/- 0.5%)
3. Kaspersky Antivirus 7 (a new version is still in its beta phase)
4. Bitdefender Antivirusplus (a good antivirus but a little heavy on resources)
5. Zonealarm Security (uses the old kaspersky engine version 6)
If you want a security suite (AIO antivirus, antispyware and firewall) here are the top five:
1. Kaspersky Internet Suite (its firewall is one of the best based on the matousec test)
2. Zonealarm Security Suite (it has an old reliable firewall coupled with its kaspersky av engine version 6)
3. G-data security suite ( as i said before it uses two antivirus engine and its firewall is also doing good on tests but very heavy on resources)
4. F-secure internet suite ( has a good antivirus and antispyware engine and a decent firewall)
5. Avira Premium suite (on tops of being one of the best antivirus and has a decent detection on spywares, it has also a good firewall).

An anti-virus program does NOT include a firewall. Only a "security suite" does. There is a huge difference. Be careful when you choose.
As far as the best…
For paid products, I would rate them from best as:
5, 7, 9
For free products,
Avria Anti-vir (not on list), 8, 2

It really depends on what operating system you have. So it is better to try the free ones available and choose the one that suits you best. Free edition is good and enough for homes,if you need it for an office, buy it.
