I have COMODO. You can put it on paranoid mode where it basically blocks everything not essential and asks your permission for everything.

I would say Comodo Firewall Pro.
Zonealarm is a system hog and Microsoft firewall just sucks.
Also I would recommend having a antispyware such as Malwarebytes or/and Superantispyware

COMODO Pro free version is your best bet. Sometimes Zone Alarm doesn’t want to play very nice with Vista. I had a computer to completely lock up on me because of ZA and had to do a complete OS restore.
They tell you that Vista has a two-way firewall but what they don’t tell you is that outgoing it is turned off by default and to get it up and running, you almost need a Masters Degree from college.
I have used COMODO free for quite a while and in my honest opinion, is by far the better firewall (paid or free). You can configure it to your liking if the pop-up alerts begin to irritate you.
Go ahead, give it a try but be forewarned, it does NOT like to be un-installed…. it may give you a fit trying to get rid of it !!!
