Beyond any doubt AVG is the best free anti-virus outthere and Adaware 8.0 is the best free spyware program regaurding what anyone else may say,
I said the best free programs but in reality they are the best programs period includeing the ones you pay a small fortune for.
BY all means avoid Norton it can cause you greif beyond belief, just google Norton problems.

In my opinion having owned both programs and having family that have owned both programs, there is a better one and for home use its FREE.
It is called Avast. You can get it at this site.

I have used it for the past 4 years and not a single virus as every gotten through, if you go to open anything that has a virus or malware or adware it warns you and then you can delete it. My brother has it on his system because he is constantly on random sites and inappropriate sites and he has no problems with viruses thanks to avast. It is easy to set up, updates itself automatically and is virtually maintenance free. You do have to put in a new license key periodically but even that is free. Avast has been in several computing magazines.

Well, the BEST anti virus is highly subjective..different people have different perceptions…however there are a few anti viruses out of which you should consider one for your use…the top list are as follows
Symantec Norton 2008
Kaspersky 7.0
Mcafee
Bitdefender
Trendmicro
Avira
Zone alarmm
CA security suite
To be honest, all of the above does a good job at cleaning viruses and malware. The above are good for win vista too, however if you want a light weight AV that does not take a toll of your memory usage, go for ESET NOD32
This should help you decide!!!! cheers
