Why am I being told that 3-User McAfee Internet Security has expired?

I'm really not sure what 3-user means. We have one computer, but my husband and I each have our own accounts, identities, etc. When I click on the little "M" (McAfee icon) in the lower right hand corner and open up McAfee Security Center, it says my computer protection services are enabled, up to date, and no action is required. Yet, whenever McAfee is trying to download something onto my computer, a box comes up saying 3-User McAfee Internet Security has expired. This happens a few times every day. Do I need this 3-User program? I have Windows XP. Thanks.
