I recently moved into my on campus housing, and there’s high speed internet of course. My laptop is plugged in directly through the ethernet cable, and I’m running on a Mac computer till my PC gets here.
Now then, The web pages load fast, and everything seems functional, but videos load sooooo slow. Wether it be youtube, veoh, or some other site. I takes forever just to watch a simple short video. Many times, it doesn’t even finish loading.
Before you answer, I’ve heard the “Macs suck, throw it away” but that doesn’t solve my problem. And, it’s not a mac problem, I tried watching videos on Windows XP (through paralleles) and they still took forever.
Do you think the apartment has the internet set to act this way? is there some download that’d fix this?
I’d like to fix this. I have a youtube addiction. XP
Minimize the PC vs Mac arguments please. I like them both. C:

campus could have the network throttled down. Web pages don’t require much bandwidth to load at a reasonable speed. Videos need much more.
If you are on wireless, check to be sure you have a strong signal.
talk to others and see if they have the same problem. Otherwise, talk to your campus IT dept. If it’s happening on a PC and a Mac, it’s obviously not your computer.
Oh, and Mac still sucks
