Why can’t I clean my registry??

August 16th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I was going through my registry and I found an entire list of previously used firewalls and AV’s. Each of these programs has been completely installed and removed from my computer quite a while ago. After I found these entries I deleted them since they are utterly useless and just take up space. However, I reopened the registry and all the entries rewrote them selves back to where the were before I deleted them.

What is going on? Why can I not remove these useless entries and how do I permanently get rid of them?

Wouldn’t this be considered malware since it is not removable and rewrites itself after being deleted? These are entries from big named companies like norton, mcafee, and several others.

Jeez…you can’t clean your registry because it isn’t dirty.

Seriously, unless you are running Windows 98, those entries take up less than a few kilobytes of space. Nothing worth messing with…not too mention, if you do it wrong, ya screw the whole thing up.

One of the best analogies I’ve heard regarding registry cleaning: It’s like sweeping out a single parking space in a parking lot the size of Montana.

Those entries aren’t doing anything, and if you don’t even know why they keep popping up, you should probably do an about-face right on out of the regedit arena.

You need to get ” Download ” a registry cleaner and compactor there are some on the web that have a free trial period
And you also need to get a good uninstaller program that will delete registry files as well as the program
