everytime i go to the adobe website or whatever adobe link and i try to download adobe flash player it always says 'the following applications need to be closed before the flash player plugin can be installed: Firefox'
I cant however close the firefox application because i want to download adobe on Firefox! and not internet explorer (as it has worked for me fine before)

That seems quite interesting, because i have already downloaded adobe flash player for firefox, but i can't do it for internet explorer. Maybe it is only allowed for one browser, obviously the first one to begin with. Take a look at adobe flash player's terms of use, it might be of some help.

If you dont have the proper plugins for your firefox browser then you can do this by follow the simple steps.
1. Open the firefox browser
2. click on the addons button of your firefox browser.
3. click the update button.
4. firefox automatically detected the required missing plugins and required updates for you. If the adobe flash player plugins you already have it not for firefox the firefox also detect it for update.
5. click on the install button
6. now wait for download and install all the updates.
7. just follow the simple instruction during installation
8. Firefox ask you for restart the application click on the ok button.
and now you have a completly updated firefox.
