I go to my programs and features on my dell, and for McAfee it comes up as "McAfee VirusScan Enterprise", "McAfee AntiSpyware Enterprise Module", and "McAfee Agent". I can uninstall the first two and then my computer won't let me uninstall the last one because "it is being used by other programs". Then, about 1 minute later, something pops up on my computer and says that "automatic updates" have occured and McAfee is reinstalled on my computer! I want to get it off so I can install AVG instead because I heard that you should only have 1 antivirus software protection on your computer at a time and McAfee has been sucking for me and my roommate says good things about AVG. Can you please help me?

some antivirus programs have an uninstall program on their company website or you may have to call McAfee for help with that
other things
- yes only one antivirus program at a time
- AVG is ok but Avast is much better

McAfee uses a self defense module to protect it from virus shutdowns… problem is it thinks YOU are the virus trying to delete it.
You need to go to the McAfee website and get the "Removal Tool" and run it.
Here's the link to the tool and information on how to use it:

GOOD LUCK !!!

If you are running VSE and the ePO agent, and it sounds like you are, you cannot uninstall McAfee. Even using the tools at McAfee for stripping out McAfee products will fail since the ePO server will reinstall them automatically — and alert the owner of the machine (or the network that you've been given access to) as to what you are doing.
If this isn't your machine, you cannot uninstall software from it.
If the McAfee install was dictated by the owner of a network that you've been granted access to you'll have to ask them to remotely uninstall it for you. Bear in mind that you may be denied access to the network once that happens.
Virusscan Enterprise is a centrally managed antivirus solution that is very popular with business network owners. It's reasonably priced, pretty stable, very hard to remove without authorization, and compared to many AV solutions it's not too bad on resource utilization. You'd rarely find it on personally owned machines. If you own this machine I'd be curious as to how you came to have it installed and how it could be communicating with a host ePO server. And if you don't own the machine, the owner isn't likely to allow you to remove it regardless of what your roommate thinks.
