why would yahoo act interested in security and show a meter on page now to create a new id and even add codes we all have to use for games and make things harder on us and yet make them easier on hackers by not allowing us to use as hard of passwords anymore???

these type of characters was VALID for passwords for years at yahoo and until the last few months worked fine used in passwords

It could be a programming reason. Special characters require unicode and numbers and letters only require ascii.
