I have AVG installed on this computer because people have always told me it’s the best free anti-virus. It updates everyday at the same time, no problem. Today I ran a scan on AVG and it came up clean. THEN I ran a quick scan on SuperAntiSpyware and it picked up 132 trojans, parasites, coolwebsearch, smitfraud, you name it, it was there…WHY didn’t AVG pick any of this up?

1. No antivirus can catch all viruses, which is why it is good to have a backup like SAS.
2. AVG detection rates are not very good, for some odd reason everyone spams about them, but then again most doing it are either really dense or just don’t know any better.
3. If you want another antivirus that is free you could try AVAST! which has excellent detection rates: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
or
Avira which also has good rates: http://www.download.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html?hhTest=1
