Something is fishy here. Grumble. Grumble.
Last year I upgraded my Norton Security software and afterward it required me to authorize my software each time I turned on my computer. After 12-15 times it required that I purchase a new key! Eff that.
I uninstalled it recently and downloaded new software and paid for another year subscription. Now the darn thing is requiring that I auth it everytime I boot up again! I anticipate the same issue, being locked out of my subscription after a set number of authorizations. What the heck is wrong and how do I correct it? I can't find answers on the Norton site.
Peace and many thanks.

I do not thing that Norton Internet Security isn't the best security software, because it makes my computers slower, and there isn't much of a way to turn it off. The most popular FREE Antivirus things are like
AVG:

Or Avast:
http://www.avast.com/
I recommend using AVG or Avast. Your computer should be faster, and you won't need to pay.

Seems the best way to solve this would be to contact them directly. Here is the support page:

You have to pay for phone support
Is the "authorization" related to your going on the Internet? If so perhaps you should read what pops up more closely. It could be the firewall as permission to allow programs online access. This is an imprtant function of a firewall.
You need to train your firewall what is a good program and tell it not to allow the bad ones online. For example if you use Internet Explorer, when it starts Norton will ask if you want to authorize access. You can tell it yes but there is also a way to tell it to remember that IE is OK so it won't ask you next time. If you don't do that it keeps asking over and over.
If you don't recognize the program say no. If something doesn't work that you want then you will know for next time.
The program is ytring to help you. If you give it some time and read a little it will be a great asset.
PS: I hate Norton and Symantec and all their products. They are memory hogs and slow down your system terribly. When your subsciption expires consider changing to one of the many free but very good products available. My 2 cents

i hate symantec crap. okay, you paid for it, but i would,(and have) try to delete all that off of your computer (next to impossible).
then install the following FREE products:
avira antivirus
ccleaner (www.cleaner.com)
eusing window washer (eusing.com)
eusing registry cleaner (eusing.com)
not only will your computer never get a virus, you free up alot of disc space from removing that useless norton antivirus.
ccleaner will remove all the trojans and tracking cookies.
window washer will remove all that ccleaner missed
registry cleaner will keep your computer running at optimum level.
