Why do we need so much security protection for our computers,it is so sickening to be “on guard” at all times?

What is the advantage of getting MAC comp. as oppose to HP or DELL when it comes to easing a “burden” on ourselves regarding purchasing of all kinds of “protections”such as: anti virus,firewall…etc…etc? Any advice? THANKS TO ALL OUT THERE.
