I have Symantec Antivirus installed on my computer- version 10.2.0.276- from my University I attend. I also have Vista as my operating system. On occasion (once a month, perhaps less), I’ll be on my computer and get the message from Vista that says "Symantec Antivirus has stopped working" and that a solution to the problem is being looked for. After a minute, it says "Symantec Antivirus has stopped working and was closed" and that I would be notified if a solution was available. However, the icon is still in the taskbar, and if I open Symantec up using the Start Menu, I have no problems with it, and I am able to run Quick and Full Scans, Live Update, etc, and it does not catch anything. My university told me I probably have a virus that made it past the antivirus system, but I doubt that, as I have always had my antivirus up and running, and I am careful about websites I visit/attachments I open/etc. Could this just be a glitch with Windows Vista and Symantec… again? Does anyone know what this is or have this problem?
