why doesn't vista work with xbox live?

My laptop has vista. I'm trying to connect to xbox live through the internet sharing. What am I doing wrong? I have my ethernet cable plugged into both my PC and 360. I have the box Allow other computers to access the internet checked.

I even tried microsofts IP address… but I still get to the page where it is trying to test the connection and it says that my adapter is wired but my IP fails.

A desktop computer running XP SP2 works just fine with it…

Depending on the version of Vista you have you cannot connect the two for sharing purposes. Media Center enhancements are required and they only come in Home Premium and Ultimate.
