I don’t know why this is happening but my computer and internet (especially internet is running slow).
At first, I thought I had a virus and thought I needed better anti virus and got the AVG . Still, not much faster.
Then I installed more memory from 500ish to 2 gb which is my pcs maximum. Still, not much better.
I’ve def-ragged, cleaned up disk, uninstalled some programs.
My audio sound has also been distorted, skipping and stalling when there was never any problem before and I’ve already checked that I didn’t turn up the volume control too high in the control panel.
So what is my problem? It’s annoying. When a page is loading, I get that white block for a few seconds where the windows icon normally spins before it completes the page load.
Do I need a registry cleaner? Or something else?
I really don’t want to do a complete factory re-install.
Any advice would be appreciated.

honestly the best thing to do would be a factory reinstall.
barring that a registry cleaner would do wonders after you uninstalled so many programs. also run msconfig (Start->Run->type in “msconfig”) and click the startup tab. uncheck what you dont recognize and dont really need to run at start. Use your own discretion.

AVG will not remove ‘heavy’ infections -
Malwarebytes and Spybot will be a better option to keep as a scanner, but leave AVG on to detect infections and tracking cookies etc -

Try doing a spyware scan with these programs instead
Malwarebytes AntiMalware
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Superantispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/
Get the free versions
Use Ccleaner(has a registry cleaner)
http://www.ccleaner.com/
You also should disable startup programs that use up RAM
Go to start>run>msconfig>startup
Disable any you don’t need
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/
Disable any services you don’t need
Go to start>run>services.msc
Use this guide
http://www.blackviper.com/
Also lose the eyecandy. Go to the desktop>properties>setting>switch to medium bit. Note: You might want to switch to high bit when playing games
Also go to start>right click my computer>advanced>performance>switch for the best performance

It maybe your background services…
Go to Start>RUN and type: MSCONFIG select ‘OK’.
Go to ‘Services’ tab and select ‘Hide All Microsoft Services’
Then go through the program list and see if there is any programs you can uncheck to not run in the background…
If that does not work go here and run down the list…

You could try running a disk check.
[1]You need to open My Computer, found on your start menu
[2]Then you right click on your local disk (c or d) and select properties from the menu that pops up
[3] Then you need to click on the tools menu tab
[4]Click the button that says (Check Now) under the section that says Error-Checking
[5]When the next menu pops up you need to check both boxes and then hit yes.
[6] The computer will ask you if you want to start the disk check the next time you restart windows. Click yes.
[7] Now all you have to do is restart. This process can take up to 2 hours depending on how many errors the computer needs to fix. Make sure you allow for the time needed to fix. Additionally I would recommend that you run a disk check at least every month. I’ve been known to run a disk check every 2 to 3 weeks.

computer can be slow for many reasons. slow processor, not enough RAM, virus, spyware, avg antivirus, norton, avast, avira antivirus. you cant expect a fast windows with any of these installed. they slow down computer by 50%. have u heard of nod32 antivirus? use that. do you have songs, movies, softwares, documents in c drive? move them to other drive or make backup. dont keep in c drive. here are some tips:
1. clean ur system restore files once a month.
ex: right click drive c->properties->disc cleanup-select all box. then click more option tab->under system restore->cleanup->yes->ok->yes
2. clean all junk files
a: show hidden files first. my computer->tools->folder options->view tab->check ‘’show hidden files and folders”->apply->ok
b: drive c->documend and settings->your user account name folder->local settings->clean all files under ”temp” and ”temporary internet files”.
c. drive c->windows->prefetch (clean all files)
d. drive c->windows->temp (clean all files)
e. follow step “a” to hide the system files
3. check for errors regularly
4. then defragment all drives (c drive is must)
5. use eset nod32 antivirus (pc magazine award for top class protection against virus, spyare, malware, spam, firewall. it doesnt make pc slow)
last, if u think that cleaning junk files are complicated then download this software. install it and click all the checkboxes and clean. it will clean all junk and temporary files in one click. it is safe.

AVG may have missed something, visit Microsoft’s on-line malware scanner @ http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm and click protection scan (Note: You will need Internet Explorer to run the scan).
I would also recommend using the System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG) and disabling all the unneeded (non Microsoft) services and Startup Programs.
