Because you have dial up.

You have too many things on your hardrive, and need to clear things out. Too many files equals to slow computer.
Also you might have too many start up programs.
Delete stuff. Might Help.

The best browser in the world. Download Adware 6 also free…scan..Good luck…Also try to clear your history….If you use Internet explore go to the control panel click NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS then click internet options… then in browsing history click delete, and clear all the temporary files….MAKE SURE YOU ARE UP TO DATE..GO TO THE MICROSOFT UPDATE WEBSITE…GOOGLE IT MICROSOFT WINDOWS UPDATE….MAKE SURE YOUR UP TO DATE. Dsl or wireless goes pretty fast if it still goes slow then get a new computer a mac or xp. Vista stinks with the Internet. Windows needs to work out a few kinks with that one!!!

I'm no computer genius but i do know that sometimes your cable or telephone company will tell you that you get a certain speed but they don't guarantee it. Thats if you have high speed internet…Ive been dragged down by that before. But again i really have no clue just wanted to put my 2 cents in =)

there could many reasons for the "slowness". AVG is known for use lots of CPU and memory when it starts and running, whether or not it is checking for virus.

Have you tried testing another computer to your internet connection? Do you have a router? Windows 2000 and XP and different Operating Systems, they are on the same Windows NT Kernel Though. Windows XP is newer than Windows 2000.
Try to uninstall AVG 7.5, No Adware 5.0 and any junk in your computer and then test it. If that doesn't work, then install your programs back the way it was before (optional), install a second operating system (dual-boot) and see weather the internets fixed. It that works, then you have to try to do more stuff to your first operating system and clear up cookies and stuff. If that doesn't work, then it definitely has to do with your internet connection.

could be many factors.
1. CPU (Processing power)
2. Type of Internet connection
3.Router
4.Security problems
5.Distance from the router (wireless only)
6.OS
