I built my computer (Vista 64 bit) and it has run perfect for about 7 months. All of a sudden it is running extremely slow, my internet runs slow and my games also run slow and even when I move my cursor over the desktop with no programs running it skimps and jumps around (wired mouse).
I have tried everything I can think of to get it running quickly again. I have Avira antivirus and have run multiple checks and nothing ever shows up. All sites and games run slow, so it is not one in particular. I have defragmented my hard drive and backed off on my overclock. It has been perfectly stable at 3.6ghz but I backed it down to 3.
I had recently installed Xfire and upgraded Firefox 2 to Firefox 3, and that seems to be when the problems started. I have since uninstalled both but it is still slow. I am pulling my hair out over this because it has gotten to the point that I can’t even watch a youtube video anyomre without lag and it takes several seconds to open up a word document.
I have lots of experience with computers but nothing I do seems to help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I have an E8400 and 4gb of ram, that is not the problem

You might need more ram and maybe you have alot of stuff on it
go to- Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>then disk Clean Up

you could have picked up a virus or spy or adware some where on the internet,if if is driving you crazy,you can try to restore your computer to a time before you had all of the problems,if that doesn’t work back up any vital data that you have on your computer and do a fresh reinstall of your operating system

it definately sounds like a virus. u may have to have someone who knows what they r doing dig in there and find it to get rid of it. possibly its bad enough that u may have to have your windows program redone, like vista, xp, etc. i did. and i know where it came from but i got violated on here for trying to tell others. (this may get me in trouble again) BUT FOR SURE THE GAME BOOKWORM DELUXE IS A VIRUS. I KNOW FOR A FACT. IT GOT ME TWICE and i had to have my computer all redone.
