I have XP Pro.
Well, its starts up normally but when I click on my Account then it takes about 3-4 minutes to show the whole Taskbar and background. Then another 2 for me to be able to click on start normally.
Programs also take longer to start and running more than 2 things at once really slows it down even more.
I’ve used only 17 of 80 available Gigabytes.
I have Norton 360 and it did a system scan and optimized the C drive and came up with no problems.
This happened like overnight, and I don’t know what is wrong.
Also I erased all start-up items

Did you install anything recently? If so undo the changes. If nothing, go to Start-> All Programs ->Accessories-> System Tools-> System Restore
Select an earlier date to restore your computer settings to when your computer wast fast. That’s it, you should be okay then.

Hi,
Clear out your Temp directories:
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\LOGIN-NAME\Local Settings\Temp (might need to show all files ‘Tools > Folder Options > View (tab) > Check ’show hidden…’)
Defrag your hard drive:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.
Download Spybot: Search & Destroy, run it in SAFE MODE:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
Try AVG instead of Norton, also run in SAFE MODE:
http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe
You might have more things running in startup than you know about. Go to Start > Run… > Type ‘msconfig’ (no quotes) to check what’s really running at startup…
Hope this helps…

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause “computer slow”.
Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you’ve installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it’s Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.
