Why is my GeForce 8500 video card with 1GB slower on my computer than the same card with 512MB?

I had an NVIDEA GeForce 8500 with 512MB on my computer that ran really well. The fan started to make noise so I returned it and received the exact same video card but it had 1GB of memory. Now with the new card, all my games run slower and the windows experience index dropped from a 4.9 to a 4.3. My computer is new and it should not have a problem like this. Is there something wrong with the video card or is it something to do with my computer?

      If you installed the updated drivers I would guess that the new card is probably defective. Return for a new one

      first install new drivers then if that dont work return it or possibly step up to an 8600gt or a 8800gt if you got a budget
