Avira Antivir Classic is free antivirus. PC tool firewall is free and Ad-adaware is free antispyware.
So then why i need to buy paid subscription to mcafee or norton?
Avira Classic is rated as 10th best out of all antivirus even though it is free.

norton is about the worst thing you can have on your computer and mcafee misses 50+ prcent of viruses norton is worse.. they just want to syphin money out of you

the best antivirus is avg at http://www.avg.com its totally free and is one the best there is.

Because they want to take advantage of the people who don't know about the free and effective antivirus programs. Its much better going to a tech forum and asking what antivirus programs are best to download, rather than googling it and ending up with something that might harm your computer instead.

Although Avria has excellent detection rates, it historically has returned a huge amount of false-positive detections. Some of the worst numbers in the anti-malware industry.
Although to be fair, Avria did improve in the latect test at A-V comparatives.org. Perhaps the trend will continue. Who knows?
