Why wont my mac play audio with movie DVDs ?

August 7th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I tried adjusting audio under sys pref and made sure mute is off. Any other ideas anyone ? These are just regular purchased DVD movies that play fine in my DVD player.
Internal speakers is the only device listed under sound output device. It is highlighted.

If you use headphones at all with your mac, what you might want to check is which device is outputting sound. Under System Preferences Click on Sound and make sure Built-In Output is selected, whether it’s headphones or the speakers.

You may try VLC player, it’s a nice DVD player for Mac, I always use it to play DVD, it works pretty well. Go and google search for it.
Or you can convert your DVD to MOV video, then you can play it with quicktime player, if you don’t know how to do that, you may refer to this guide
