Why won’t my monitor work?

October 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments

my gateway monitor wont display anything. the blue light turns on, and I see the startup screen and the vista loadng bar, but after that nothing appears. it just stays blank. ive tried replugging the cable, dusting the inside and using a different cable. Also, the computer and monitor works in safe mode, but it just refuses to work in normal mode. help please.=]

when i go to the monitor tab, it says that its using the hardware default setting.

and its already at the lowest resolution.

Start in safe mode (since this works) and change the resolution on your screen to something else and change the refresh rate to something else and then try to boot in normal mode. This should do the trick. If you don't know how.

      1. Right click on desktop
      2. Click Properties
      3. Click Settings
      4. Change Resolution
      5. Click Advanced
      6. Click Monitor tab
      7. Change refresh rate to 60 or 75
      8 click ok and restart
