So, a little while ago, the infamous AntiVirus 2008 made it’s way into my computer when my friend fell for one of their fake pop-up warnings. Norton told me I had it, but it wasn’t very effective in doing anything about it. So my dad installed Malwarebytes, and we successfully got rid of the program without any damage to my computer. All the fake scans and advertisements stopped.
Now, later, I was on a website when a new AntiVirus 2008 pop-up appeared. I turned my computer off, and I avoided another infection. However, Norton is telling me that I have the virus. Could this just be because my Norton subscription expired? I really haven’t had any computer problems related to AntiVirus 2008 since I got rid of it with Malwarebytes.
I understand that Norton sucks, that why I used Malwarebytes.

Use Malwarebytes to show you if you have the virus. Norton isn’t really good with rogue software.

Download ‘Spybot Seach and Destory’ (google it), install it, update it and scan. Norton might be removing one file but leaving another, and that other file is recreating the file norton keeps removing.

It has hidden files which restore it when you delete it so that may be the problem

If your Norton AntiVirus subscription has expired then you have no AntiVirus, you need to run norton removal tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
Then download a new AV if your short on cash download Free Avast or Free Avira.
In the mean time you can do a free online scan:
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
If you have a virus this program will find & remove it for free.
AntiVirus 2008 or any rogue appears on your PC you should bring up task manager click applictions tab & click end task.
Then run malwarebytes to be safe.
