Wii: Setting up a wireless connection from my ethernet through my MacBook Pro’s airport using WEP encryption?

April 21st, 2008 · 1 Comment

I've been at it for hours, and hours, and hours. I'm on a military base surrounded by tons of soldiers, and the connection I'm sporting right now is unsecure. I want to add a WEP encryption to it–as of right now, my Wii connects, after adding all the 10.0.2.11-type manual settings. But the WEP is strange. Using 40-bit, I'll put in a 5-character password like apple. Then I'll put it in on the Wii, and it won't buy it after a connection test. Then I'll try converting the ASCII of apple into hexadecimal, and that still didn't work. I tried a 128-bit password, and I read somewhere that you should do 26 characters, so I did: 12345678901234567890123456, and the Wii didn't connect. It's driving me crazy. How can I set up a WEP encryption for my wireless internet from my Mac's airport that my Wii will accept? Anything is fine, I just want a secure connection. The Wii is different from the DS, so please don't bother with mentioning anything related to that.

Under system preferences go to sharing and enable internet sharing through your airport. This will create a network with the name of your Macbook Pro. Viola
