windows 2000 file server with firewall software?

October 2nd, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’ve setup the windows 2000 file server to share the files with work stations. But after install the firewall software on the server, I couldn’t share the files because the firewall blocked port 137-139.
I’ve read the article that these ports are dangerous for hackers attach.
I’m wondering whether there is a way that I can share the files with these ports blocked.
Or is there other way to share the files safely?
Thanks

What is the edge?
Could be more specific?

Thanks

Put the firewall on your edge and turn off the firewall on the server.
