I called Att and spent an hour on the phone to find out that they knew nothing. I called Microsoft and they have a recording saying to change the settings on your firewall but want to charge you and arm and a leg to fix the update THEY released this past week!!!! So, I run Norton Internet Security. I turned it off and the internet came on, but only for a minute. So I turned off Windows firewall as well (Neither one was running a the same time) and the net stays on.
Before this crap update, i had not problems. Now, windows XP update released this past week, ruined my pc.
I formated and did everything, but cannot find the update file that causes this problem. So now I am stuck with a worthless Norton package and a firewall from windows that doesnt work as well.
I called norton and they said it is my pc. What a bunch of BS!
I reformatted my pc now, 2 times and did not install anything, but the factory updates and when finished, i get the same damn problem… Can anyone help!???
I messed around with it and did system restore, etc.. I found out that Norton needs to update their Internet Security as it is not compliant with the new update which added more ports to be blocked in the firewall. Also. this update won't allow dual firewalls to be installed, such as running Norton's but turning off Windows firewall or vice versa.
I had to install the Symantic Client server edition anti virus and use Windows Firewall and remove the retail Internet Security to get it to work.

The same thing just happened to me this morning. I did a system restore to yesterday and it's working again. I also turned off automatic updates because that was ridiculous!!
